| Programme Title: |
Monitoring and evaluation (M&E): A participatory approach |
| Program Discription: |
Monitoring and evaluation is the integral part of any project. It demands a very clear understanding of what to monitor and how to monitor.Monitoring generally refers to a process of systemetically collecting information….which may then be used to ‘inform decisions, or be used to’evaluate situations’.Evaluation simply refers to the process of determining the worth(or merit) of something of interest(Scriven 1991). It is the ‘valuing’ that is important, that is,evaluation is more than data collection. Evaluation is about the value judgements….so the informations collected must be interpreted! For example, evaluation is what distinguishes ‘food fom garbage’,’lies from truth’ and ‘science from superstition’(Scriven1991).So both monitoring and evaluations are interlinked and the stakeholders of any project have a great role to make judgements about what it is achieving. This programme has been designed to get a clear idea about the steps and approaches towards monitoring and evaluation and how to make it participatory. |
