Dewas-District Agricultural Plan |
The Government of India, as part of its strategy to strengthen agriculture sector, had formulated a special programme called Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY). As part of this programme, a Comprehensive District Agriculture Plan (C-DAP) had to be prepared for each of the districts in the country. The local needs / crops / feed and fodder / animal husbandry / dairying / fisheries / priorities are to be reflected in the C-DAP. The objective of the project was to assess and plan for the infrastructure required to support the agriculture development and to establish linkages with the required institutional support services, like credit, technology transfer, ICT, research and more. The objective even highlighted evolving an action plan for achieving sustainable agricultural growth with food security and a cropping system that would improve farmers’ incomes and enable optimum utilization of scarce natural, physical and financial resources.
With the objective to assess and plan for the infrastructure requirement to support the agriculture development and to establish linkages with the required institutional support services, the scope of the project included district analysis, sector & project analysis, vision & strategy formulation, inter-sectoral coordination, financial resources analysis & allocation, budgeting and implementation.
The report outlined the current situational analysis of district domestic product, major crops in Dewas district, farming system, livestock, marketing and more. The report also included the SWOT analysis of agriculture, horticulture, mandi, warehouse, animal husbandry, fisheries, to name a few.
