Promotion of FPO in Mahbubnagar |
The project was a detailed project report under the pulses program in Mahbubnagar, Andhra Pradesh. Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) offers a pathway to farmers, especially smallholders, to successfully deal with a range of challenges by overcoming the constraints imposed by the small size of their individual farm.
The project contained a report for the farmer producer organization promoted in 60,000 villages covered by the pulse programme in Andhra Pradesh. The project report also describes in detail how FPO members were able to leverage their collective strength to access credit and technology, reduce transaction costs, tap high value markets and enter into partnerships with private entities on more equitable terms. The aggregation opportunities offered by FPOs attract both wholesale agents and processors to enter into direct buying arrangements with producers and create competition and fair price discovery.
