Promotion of Producer Company


Project Brief

A 3-day field visit for promotion of Producer Companies in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh was undertaken.. The objective was to mobilize tribals under Maa Thota program and design and implementation of capacity building program. Also, the study sought to conduct a need analysis and then focus on the design & implementation of the intervention for the producer companies, including the management system.


Project Description

The field project was carried for a period of 3 days with an objective to mobilize tribals under the Maa Thota program and design and implementation of a capacity building program. The project had two major deliverables: to promote four legally registered Producers’ Institutions and to increase average income at least by 10%.
Based on the field study it was concluded that as ARTIC has promoted 20 Farmers Clubs with 500 farmers and BREDS has promoted 50 Farmers Clubs with 1098 farmers, ALC India would work in existing clusters of ARTIC and BREDS. Potential interventions proposed after the field study included: processing unit of cashew, amla and pineapple and millet and milling unit for pulses. ALC India also proposed interventions in turmeric, ginger and processing of chillies with a powder making and packaging unit.
