Project sought to increase the livelihoods opportunities of the marginalized weaver communities and to broaden the access of handloom weavers to opportunities in the market.

Project Description

Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) has over the years supported Self-Help Group (SHG) members by providing trade-based skill training and turned them into rural entrepreneurs in various non-farm livelihood sectors, including textiles.

SERP has collaborated with Access Livelihoods Consulting (ALC) India Ltd. for setting up a Weavers Producer Company in East Godavari District. Under the Artisan Enterprise Promotion domain, ALC India prepared a detailed project report to guide the successful establishment and sustainability of the Weavers Producer Company.

The report offered a 5-year business plan for the company, marketing plan and strategy, financial planning and management of other support systems. ALC India is an implementation agency responsible for providing handholding support to the weavers’ community of East Godavari district. The project aims to increase the income of the weavers’ community and provide them a stable and sustainable source of earning by increasing their access to markets.
