Today, India is the world's 4th largest economy. World-class cities are being developed, new industries are coming up, But, at the same time there are lakhs of people who contribute to the society and are still deprived of basic amenihes. While understanding the reasons, it is important to acknowledge the fact that these individuals contribute immensely towards the growth story. As a tribute to their contribution to economic growth, ALC India canceptualized Tathya - a documentary film festival. |
Tathya is a learning platform to convey this message of contribution to the economy by the marginalised. The platform is an effort to create an environment and space where the haves of society are sensitised to the contributions of the have-nots. Key aspects of the design are - screening of documentary films, interactions with film makers, panel discussions and display of products by NGOs working in the livelihood sector. The films are at the heart of this design and they sing the song of the unsung heroes of Indian economy. |
Tathya wes organised in 2010 with the support of Oxfam, NABARD, COVA and Jeevika. By supporting an event like "Tathya", they have not only confirmed the need for such events but also provided encouragement for organising similar events in Ihe future. |
Held in Hyderabad, Tathya saw the screening of 19 award winning documentaries and related panel discussions. 10 NGOs displayed products made by the artisans they work with. |
